Hasselblad introduces the XCD 25mm f2.5 V, a premium wide-angle lens specifically designed for its X-System medium format cameras. To start with, the lens boasts an advanced optical design that includes 13 elements in 10 groups. Furthermore, it includes four aspherical elements, ensuring that this lens delivers exceptional image quality. Moreover, even at close range, the meticulous design and high-quality components work together seamlessly to ensure impeccable results.
The XCD 25mm f2.5 V, notably, boasts a 20mm focal length equivalent in 35mm terms. Additionally, it has a close focusing distance of 25 centimeters, and, importantly, offers a maximum aperture of f/2.5. Consequently, this combination makes it exceptionally well-suited for low-light photography. Furthermore, its compact build, measuring just 10.5 centimeters in length and 7.2 centimeters in diameter, skillfully incorporates 13 lenses. Among these, four are aspherical and three are of extraordinary dispersion (ED) elements, significantly enhancing the quality of the images it produces.
This intricate lens structure ensures maximum resolution, complementing the exceptional 100-megapixel sensor of the Hasselblad X2D. It supports autofocus and offers manual focus with a depth-of-field scale when the focus ring is pushed forward. A fast central shutter allows for shutter speeds up to 1/4,000 of a second and supports flash synchronization across all speeds.
Despite its sophisticated optics, the lens is relatively lightweight at 592 grams. It accommodates standard 72-millimeter filters. Per Hasselblad’s specifications, at maximum aperture, the lens exhibits vignetting of about two f-stops, has up to 3 percent distortion, and maintains 40 percent edge image resolution (MTF 40 lp/mm at f/2.5).
