Rokinon has introduced the Rokinon V-AF 20mm T1.9 autofocus cine lens for Sony E-Mount cameras. The lens rounds out a series of six lenses, all featuring autofocus and a T1.9 aperture, except for the 100mm telephoto lens, which offers a T2.3 aperture. Simultaneously, the company introduced a new 1.7x anamorphic adapter.
A noteworthy characteristic of Rokinon V-AF lenses is the inclusion of an electronic connector situated at the front of the lens frame. This innovative design feature significantly enhances the lens’s versatility by enabling direct connections with a range of additional accessories produced by Rokinon. Among these useful add-ons, for instance, one can find a manual focus adapter.
The Rokinon V-AF series now consists of 24, 35, 45, and 75mm T1.9 and 100mm T2.3 lenses, joined by the Rokinon V-AF 20mm T1.9.
Rokinon has also released a new accessory for its V-AF lenses, a 1.7x anamorphic MF adapter. According to Rokinon, it is compatible with 24mm, 35mm, 45mm, 75mm, and 100mm lenses. However, when used with the V-AF 24mm, it only covers APS-C/Super35 image sensors.
The adapter provides a compression ratio of 1.7x. You must first set the focus to infinity and then focus using the adapter. Rokinon claims that the adapter “adds oval bokeh with amber highlights to images” and that the adapter has “a soft focus mode that creates an even softer focus image for a more creative look .”
The adapter boasts a focus ring with 0.8 mod gears that seamlessly integrates with follow focus systems, thereby simplifying the process for users. Similarly to the V-AF lenses, this adapter is thoughtfully designed with an indicator lamp located at the front of the lens, providing a consistent user experience.
