Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 with a 16:10 display and a faster processor

Samsung has given one of its most popular mid-range tablets an update. The brand new Galaxy Tab A8 has a slightly faster processor, more memory, and a revised design, but surprisingly little changes to the rest of the Samsung A8 tablet device.

Samsung A8 tablet

The Samsung A8 tablet looks very similar to the Galaxy Tab A7 ( approx. 235 euros on Amazon ) at first glance, apart from the round camera on the back and the new position of the Samsung lettering, there are only a few external changes. The 5-megapixel front camera is retained, as is the 8 MP main camera on the back.

However, Samsung is installing a new display in 16:10 format with a diagonal of 10.5 inches, and a resolution of 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, the technology giant from South Korea does not yet provide details on brightness or the built-in panel. Samsung continues to rely on four speakers for the best possible sound when watching a video. With a weight of 508 grams and a depth of 6.9 millimeters, the tablet remains comparatively light and thin.

Probably the biggest upgrade is the Unisoc Tiger T618, which replaces the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 of its predecessor. According to Samsung, the new SoC offers around 10 percent better processor and graphics performance. Depending on the model, the Samsung Tab A8 comes with 3 GB to 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB to 128 GB of flash memory, the latter can be expanded by up to 1 TB with a microSD memory card. The 7,040 mAh battery can be charged with up to 15 watts via USB-C. The Samsung A8 tablet comes with Android 11, an LTE modem is only available for an extra charge.
