MSI Vector 17 HX with Core i9-14900HX, RTX 4090, and PCIe Gen 5 SSD

MSI has unveiled the Vector 17 HX gaming laptop at CES 2024, featuring high-end specifications, premium displays, and PCIe Gen 5 storage.

At the core of the Vector 17 HX is the option for an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor clocked at 5.6 GHz (all P cores). The laptop supports various GPU configurations, including an RTX 4090 on the highest-end setup, while other options include an RTX 4060, RTX 4070, and RTX 4080.

MSI highlights that the CPU and GPU combination on the RTX 4080/RTX 4090 SKUs benefits from 250W of combined maximum power, thanks to MSI Overboost Ultra technology. However, the lower-end variants are limited to a 215W power budget.

The MSI Vector 17 HX boasts two DDR5 RAM slots supporting up to 64 GB of memory and two M.2 slots for storage, with one of them accommodating PCIe Gen 5 hard drives.

Regarding the display, users can opt for a 17-inch UHD+ 120Hz display. Alternately, MSI offers a 240Hz QHD+ IPS display with full coverage of the DCI-P3 gamut and a 165Hz FHD+ display.

In terms of connectivity, the Vector 17 HX includes a Thunderbolt 4 port, two Type-C ports with DisplayPort (one supporting Power Delivery), two Type-A ports, HDMI 2.1 output, a 3.5mm combo jack, an SD card reader, an RJ45 jack, and Kensington Lock port. Wireless options encompass Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.

Price and release date

The MSI Vector 17 HX configured with a Core i9-14900HX, RTX 4070 GPU, 32 GB of RAM, 1 TB of storage, and a 240 Hz QHD+ display is priced at $2,399 on Amazon.com. Meanwhile, the Vector 16 HX with the same configuration will retail for $2,299.
