Acer has announced its new TravelMate series of an entry-level convertible laptop with powered by all new Windows 10 S operating system called Acer TravelMate Spin B1. The laptop, with a thickness of 23.4mm and total weight of 1.5 kg, and comes with a 360-degree hinge, and a stylus as well.
The TravelMate Spin B1 laptop comes with all new Windows 10 S, specially designed for students like it was the faster first-time login compared to Windows 10 Pro – just about 15 seconds – while subsequent logins will take less than 5 seconds. All Web browsers in the Windows Store will run on Windows 10 S devices, but Microsoft obviously recommends Edge that now has education-focused features like tab ordering and annotations.
It will also sport the Office 365 suite of apps including Teams will be coming to Windows Store, complete with an education-focused update that is meant for collaboration. Windows 10 S brings all the features that were brought by the Creators Update to Edge and Cortana.
The Acer TravelMate Spin B1 will pack Intel Celeron N3450 processor and will have up to 4GB of DDR3L RAM as well as Intel HD Graphics 500 with 12 EUs. It sports an 11.6-inch full-HD IPS panel that reclines all the way to a 180-degree angle. The company claims that the laptop has a battery life of up to 13 hours. The laptop comes up with 64GB of eMMC and features a spill-resistant keyboard with touchpad.
TravelMate Spin B1 has a 360-degree hinge supporting notebook, tablet, display and tent modes. In terms of connectivity ports, there is a USB 3.0, USB 2.0, HDMI ports and Microphone with stereo speakers.
Acer has said that TravelMate Spin B1 will be available in North America from this month, starting at $299.99. The company will then launch TravelMate Spin B1 in other countries, where prices and specifications will differ from this model.
