Rokinon 35mm f1.8 AF Lens for Sony E mount: Pre-order, Specs, More

Rokinon has introduced a new AF 35mm f1.8 FE autofocus lens for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras. This is a third version of the prime lens for Sony E mount cameras with such a focal length. Rokinon AF 35mm F1.4 FE and AF 35mm F2.8 were released two years ago. The first is quite weighty (645 g) and large (Ø76×115 mm), the second is a very light (only 86 g) and compact (Ø76×33 mm). Both lenses were awarded in due time with all kinds of awards (TIPA, RedDot, etc.).

This lens has a compact body with an optical structure, there are 10 elements in 8 groups, including 2 aspherical elements, two extra-low dispersion elements, and a pair of aspherical elements, which help to suppress both chromatic and spherical aberrations for improved sharpness, color accuracy, and clarity.

The lens comes with a multi-layer coating to reduce the ghosting effect, brightening phenomenon when shooting backlight, or shooting under strong contrast conditions. In addition, this AF 35mm f1.8 FE lens is also designed with Linear STM AF Motor suitable for Sony’s full-frame MLR camera system to increase the ability to focus quickly and accurately. 

With Rounded 9-Blade Diaphragm and f/1.8 aperture, the AF 35mm F1.8 FE can create beautiful natural bokeh, shooting well in low light conditions when opening the largest aperture. The lens can get the closest focus with a distance of 29cm.

The lens is designed for full-frame Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, however, can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 52.5mm equivalent focal length.

Recently, Rokinon has also introduced an 85mm f/1.4 Series II telephoto lens for Canon EF, Canon M, Fujifilm X, Sony E, and Micro Four Thirds mounts. It is positioned as a portrait photography tool and is a development of the 85mm f/1.4 model.
