Gigabyte has unveiled Aorus SSD 2TB NVMe 4x PCIe Gen4 AIC Adaptor. In terms of design, this is a PCI-Express 4.0 x16 adapter card that contains four 500GB M.2 drives with a 4x PCIe Gen 4 interface. The card requires a platform that supports PCIe lane segmentation (most modern platforms introduced in 2016 and later), and the OS must support NVMe RAID.
Heat dissipation from the drives is provided by a copper heatsink and a fan. The board contains a circuit for controlling the fan speed depending on the temperature and the indication of the device’s activity. The storage performance of the device is up to 3x faster than regular Gen4 SSDs in RAID. Furthermore, the advanced thermal design keeps the controller and memory at low temperatures, ensuring that Gen4 SSD performance won’t be compromised.
The advanced fabrication process ensures PS5016-E16 has enough computing power for ECC processing when adopting the latest 3D TLC NAND flash. The AORUS Gen4 AIC 2TB NVMe SSD provides sequential read speeds up to 15,000 MB/s and sequential write speeds up to 9500 MB/s. Performance on operations with random access to blocks of 4K reaches 425,000 IOPS in reading mode and 440,000 IOPS in write mode.
