Acer Nitro V 15 gaming laptop with Intel Raptor Lake and Nvidia GeForce RTX

Acer disrupts the trend of soaring gaming laptop prices with its Nitro V 15. Priced at $699, it packs a dedicated Nvidia GeForce RTX GPU, making it more affordable than many gaming handhelds lacking a graphics chip.

The base model boasts the latest Intel Core i5-13420H with four performance cores clocking up to 4.6 GHz and eight efficiency cores. To maintain the cost, Acer installs 8 GB of RAM and an older Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 laptop GPU.

For occasional gamers among students or office users, this mid-range GPU, albeit a couple of years old, surpasses Intel’s iGPU or the AMD Radeon 680M. In games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt at 1,080p resolution with high details, the Nvidia GPU hits an average of 78 fps, more than double the Radeon 680M. Titles like Baldur’s Gate 3, Watch Dogs Legion or Resident Evil Village run smoothly at 1,080p with medium details.

The Nitro V 15 offers upgrades to a GeForce RTX 3050 or a GeForce RTX 4050 for an additional fee. All variants feature a 144 Hz fast IPS panel at 1,080p resolution across a 15.6-inch diagonal. Future models will include a 165 Hz display, 32 GB RAM, and a 2 TB SSD. The connection array includes three USB-A, one Thunderbolt 4 (USB-C), HDMI, Ethernet, and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
