Nikon introduced a special edition Nikkor Z 40mm F2 SE lens that takes on a retro style similar to the Nikon AI and AI-S lenses released in the 70s and 80s. The updated version features a retro-inspired design, specialized electromagnetic aperture, a focus ring, checked knurling on the lens body, and a contrasting silver band.
Aside from the aesthetic changes, the lens remains optically identical to the non-SE version. It has the same six-element-in-four-group design with nine aperture blades and a minimum focusing distance of 0.29m. It is still weatherproof and uses the same stepping motor (STM) for autofocus.
Price and availability
The Nikon Nikkor Z 40mm F2 SE is available to pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com for a suggested retail price of $306.95 and will be available in early 2023.

Last week Nikon introduced the Nikkor Z 600mm F4 TC VR S, a Z-mount super-telephoto lens with a built-in switchable teleconverter. This lens is the largest Z-mount lens released by Nikon and offers a focal length of 840mm when using the built-in 1.4x teleconverter.
The lens consists of 19 elements (26 if you include a teleconverter), including three extra-low dispersion (ED) elements, two Super ED elements, and two short-wavelength refractive (SR) elements. Nikon uses Nano Crystal Coat and a Meso Amorphous lens coating to minimize ghosting and flare.
The Nikkor Z 600mm F4 TC VR S lens can be pre-ordered through Bhphotovideo.com for a suggested retail price of $15,496.95 and will be available in late November 2022.
