Netgear has announced the WAX630 Tri-Band Access Point, the fourth in a family of Insight Managed WiFi Access Point compliant with WiFi 6 mesh router (802.11ax) specifications. The Netgear hotspot wireless access point is addressed to small and medium-sized businesses.
The new Netgear hotspot delivers up to 40% faster speeds for each connected device over WiFi 5 (802.11ac) hotspots. It can be used with other Insight Managed APs, including WiFi 5 (WAC510, WAC540) and WiFi 6 (WAX610, WAX610Y, WAX620) models. In addition, the WAX630 allows access points to be connected to each other using Netgear Instant Mesh technology. The WAX630 access point has two network ports: one Gigabit Ethernet port and one Power-over-Ethernet (PoE ++) 2.5 GbE port.
It supports multiple SSIDs up to 8 separate and secure wireless networks to manage device access for groups of guests, employees, smart devices, and many others. There is also support for the WPA3, MU-MIMO, Load balancing, Band steering, Assisted roaming, Ceiling, or Wall Mount. It can be securely installed on the wall or a suspended ceiling with included mounting hardware.
Applications for the WAX630 include large venues where Wi-Fi connectivity needs to be provided to a large number of concurrent users. These can be schools and other educational institutions, manufacturing plants, warehouses, and offices. The WAX630 supports 12 streams (4×4 per lane), with each device capable of up to 6.0 Gbps aggregate bandwidth across all three frequency bands supported by Wi-Fi 6. The access point can be controlled using the Insight app or browser.
