UltraGear Gaming Speaker (codenamed LG GP9) is the first portable gaming speaker with DTS Headphone: X for video gamers made by LG. The portable speaker is designed as a perfect companion for UltraGear monitors and to expand the ecosystem with innovative solutions capable of taking the gaming experience to a higher level. The mini speaker with microphone is developed in collaboration with some players and offers specially optimized features.
At the base of everything is the proprietary 3D Gaming Sound technology that includes the HRTF algorithm, acronym for Head-Related Transfer Function. Behind this wording, there is a function that reconstructs a virtual surround effect characterized by a realistic sensation of spatiality, directionality, and able to accurately convey the position of the sounds.
HRTF serves to not necessarily have to resort to the use of headphones, a key component for video players which, however, is considered by many to be uncomfortable during longer sessions. However, the possibility of using headphones is not precluded: the 3.5 mm jack output offers a virtual surround experience with a reconstruction of 7.1 channels thanks to compatibility with DTS Headphone: X technology.
LG GP9 also features the Game Genre Optimizer with two modes tailored for just as many usage scenarios. The FPS Mode focuses on all the smallest details to allow users to react quickly to attacks carried out silently by enemies. The RTS Mode is instead focused on spatiality and ensures engaging experiences not only in a real-time strategy (RTS stands for Real-Time Strategy) but also in driving games and other genres.
Obviously, when it comes to video games it is not only important to feel good but also to communicate adequately with your teammates in online sessions. For this reason, in the UltraGear gaming speaker, we find microphones that use an LG algorithm for noise cancellation, capable of distinguishing the user’s voice from the sounds of games and background noises. Through the application to be combined with GP9, it is also possible to intervene on the equalizer and share customized audio settings for specific games with other players.
As for the quality of reproduction, the LG UltraGear Gaming Speaker is Hi-Res Audio certified thanks to its ES9038PRO Quad DAC (manages sample rates up to 768 kHz / 32-bit). Available connections include a USB-C port for connecting to PCs and consoles, an optical digital input, and Bluetooth.
