HP 340S G7 Review: Brilliant Design With Bright Advantages

This will probably be our last review of the year 2020, today we have the HP 340S G7 (224L1PA) – the new laptop in the office laptop line. Owning a beautiful design is not enough, this laptop also offers many interesting advantages, so let’s see the HP 340S G7 review in detail.

Design

With a guy who has used many different laptop lines, we have drawn perspectives on personal experiences as well as the exterior design of laptop devices from various manufacturers. Look at the design of the HP 340S G7, we loved it when HP maintains its signature style while providing both a good look and a pleasant experience.

The HP 340S G7 has a matte silver-tone, which gives a great feel, and even though made of only plastic, hardly anyone can recognize it because the laptop looks so beautiful. At the rear, the HP 340S G7 carries the familiar HP logo and is quite prominent.

Not only are the corners of the machine rounded, but the back and bottom surface is also curved by HP, providing harmony and pleasing to the eye. Not only that, this style makes the laptop feel more comfortable to hold.

But in this price range, HP cut backlighting under the keyboard. What about the touchpad? We also have no complaints that while the HP 340S G7’s touchpad gives a smooth user experience, the surface is not squishy, and the response speed is relatively fast.

Performance

Not only external design but also the HP 340S G7’s internal configuration is of interest to most users. Before evaluating the performance of the device, we’ll give you a quick review of the hardware parameters for easy tracking:

Regarding the hardware specifications that we just mentioned, the HP 340S G7 is equipped with an Intel Core i3-1005G1 CPU. It is a CPU in the popular segment, but in practical experience, this Intel processor still gives a stable performance. Not to say remotely, at the end of the year, we had to run two major special projects and were forced to use AutoCAD. This 2D drawing software is for high configuration and capacity over 1 GB, but the Intel Core i3 Gen 10 still handles it properly.

Not only that, Adobe’s Photoshop or Lightroom software also runs well on the HP 340S G7, even though the CPU is only in the mainstream segment. Thanks to this, we handled many tasks at the same time and got our work done quickly before the deadline. With lightweight applications like MSWord, PowerPoint, etc, you are confident because the HP 340S G7 offers high stability and fast response speed, allowing you to finish tasks quickly.

In addition, to bring a real HP 340S G7 review, we also tested the performance of the HP 340S G7’s CPU via Geekbench 5. The results are as follows:

However the CPU works well and handles office tasks perfectly, because of the 4GB of RAM, Chrome tabs and apps are often loaded from scratch when you left them for a few minutes. So don’t know if HP 340S G7 can play games? The fight is fine and we downloaded League of Legends to play, but you have to set the configuration at the lowest level, then the new frame will be stable at 30 fps. What we care about is not the gaming experience but the sound technology on the HP 340S G7.

This laptop is integrated with a 2-channel speaker array, which features Realtek High Definition Audio technology. This is not a new technology, but the sound quality is still the advantage when it comes to high volume, comfortable, not harsh.

Battery

With office laptops like the HP 340S G7, the factor everyone should be concerned about is battery life. So in your opinion, how long will the HP 340S G7 last for battery life?

To give the most objective view, we used the BatteryMon software to measure the battery life of HP home office laptops. After a period of waiting, the software results in about 4 hours of battery life of the HP 340S G7. We think this period is quite good because, during the trial period, we opened a very heavy Photoshop task and more than 10 Chrome tabs.

If you only use Chrome and Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, …), the HP 340S G7’s battery life can last up to 5 hours.

Heatsink

One of the factors that more or less affects the performance of the CPU is heat dissipation. So is heat dissipation really good on the HP 340S G7?

We used AIDA64 software and obtained CPU temperature measurement results after continuous use of 77 °C over 30 minutes. During this time, we not only used more than 10 Chrome tabs, played games for a short time, and also ran Photoshop.

After a week of experience, at the end of this year, we evaluated the HP 340S G7 as a laptop suitable for students and office personnel. Although the HP 340S G7 only comes with the i3 Gen 10 CPU, with its stability and ability to handle good applications, HP’s new laptop has also won the demand of users like us.
