Viltrox AF 50mm F1.8 Lens for Nikon Z cameras

Viltrox announced a new full-frame Nikon Z lens: AF 50mm F1.8 autofocus lens for Nikon Z cameras. Recall that the company announced a series of 24mm, 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm autofocus prime lenses for four full-frame systems at once: Sony FE, Nikon Z, Canon RF, and L-mount. So far, the first lenses for Sony, Nikon, and Canon mounts are presented.

The Viltrox 50mm F1.8 autofocus lens for Nikon Z mount is new to the Viltrox range but shares the same visual design as the 35mm F1.8. It consists of 11 elements in 10 groups, including one extra-low dispersion (ED) element, two high refractive index elements, and two aspherical elements. It has a minimum focusing distance of 55cm, uses a 55mm front filter thread, and has an aperture range of F1.8 to F16.

Viltrox claims that the ultra-low dispersion element reduces color fringing and chromatic aberration, resulting in better color clarity and accuracy, while the high refractive element helps control spherical aberration and reduce distortion. The autofocus motors provide precise and smooth focusing of images.

The Nikon Z lens has a multi-layer nano-coating, which is applied to individual elements to suppress flare and ghosting for more contrast and color when shooting.

Like the 35mm F1.8 lens, the new lens is equipped with a chip for EXIF ​​and autofocus data transfer and is equipped with a built-in Micro USB port for firmware updates. The lens measures 70mm in diameter, 88.2mm in length, and weighs approximately 350g.
