Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2 receives a powerful upgrade with GeForce RTX 4060

Much like its predecessor, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 2023 continues to leverage its innovative display that can be positioned at an angle above the keyboard to facilitate drawing. However, the second-generation model offers a substantial boost in performance and introduces an innovative trackpad.

Alongside the Surface Laptop Go 3, Microsoft has introduced the second iteration of the Surface Laptop Studio. In terms of design, it remains virtually unchanged compared to the previous model. The standout feature of this device, as always, is its 14.4-inch 3:2 display boasting a brightness of 650 nits. This display can be extended forward using the innovative hinge, allowing it to be positioned either at an angle behind the trackpad or flat above the keyboard in tablet mode.

The Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio 2, launched in 2023, delivers significantly enhanced performance. Microsoft has replaced the Intel Core i7-11370H, which featured only four cores, with a modern Core i7-13800H. Furthermore, instead of the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop GPU, prospective buyers now have the option to select between a GeForce RTX 4050 laptop GPU and a GeForce RTX 4060 laptop GPU, both equipped with 8 GB GDDR6 and boasting a TGP of 80 watts.

Collectively, Microsoft promises twice the performance compared to its predecessor. The Surface Laptop Studio 2 can be configured with up to 64GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD.

In addition to the existing two Thunderbolt 4 ports (USB-C) and the Surface Connect Port, the Surface Laptop Studio 2 introduces a USB-A port and a microSD card reader. The device is fully compatible with the Surface Slim Pen 2. Another significant enhancement is the inclusion of the “Precision Haptic Touchpad,” which not only accurately detects individual fingers but also recognizes the palm, improving usability for individuals with limited hand function.
