Rokinon V-AF 100mm T2.3 FE lens introduced for Sony

Rokinon has introduced the latest addition to its lineup of lightweight autofocus video lenses: the V-AF 100mm T2.3 FE. This release expands the V-AF range, which currently includes 24mm, 35mm, 45mm, and 75mm lenses, all boasting a T1.9 aperture.

Compact and lightweight, the Rokinon 100mm T2.3 lens designed for Sony E mirrorless cameras promises distortion-free imagery, offering what the manufacturer describes as “the ideal perspective for striking portrait photography and video with exquisite background blur,” courtesy of its T2.3 aperture.

Engineered to support resolutions up to 8K, this lens ensures consistent color reproduction while reducing post-processing workload. Despite being slightly longer than other series lenses, it maintains a consistent form factor at 280g, facilitating easy lens swaps on gimbals or drones. Its optical configuration comprises 9 elements in 8 groups, incorporating 2 HR and 2 ED lenses.

A redesigned focus ring enables Follow Focus without additional accessories, and the front electronic contacts unique to the V-AF series expand shooting possibilities.

Rokinon employs an STM linear AF motor, ensuring swift, silent, and precise focusing. Furthermore, these lenses are weather, dust, and splash-resistant, suited for diverse shooting environments.

An illuminating feature of the V-AF series is the indicator lamp, aiding solo creators in monitoring recording status.

Moreover, in the first half of the coming year, Rokinon plans to unveil the V-AF 20mm T1.9.

Available for pre-order on Bhphotovideo.com at $699, the new lens will commence shipping by the end of December 2023.
