OnePlus 12 with 4,500 nits display launches in USA, $200 cheaper than Galaxy S24+

The OnePlus 12 is set to debut in the USA, presenting robust features at a more affordable price compared to the Samsung Galaxy S24+ (approx. $999.99 on Amazon). Equipped with three high-resolution cameras featuring Hasselblad branding, a 4,500-nit bright LTPO AMOLED display, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the OnePlus 12 aims to compete with flagship models while keeping the price under $800.

In the sub-$800 price range, the OnePlus 12 stands out with its 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display, boasting a resolution of 3,168 x 1,440 pixels. Beyond its dynamic image frequency adjustment from 1 Hz to 120 Hz, the display offers an impressive HDR peak brightness of 4,500 nits, with a minimum of 1,600 nits across the entire area.

Gorilla Glass Victus 2 safeguards the display against scratches. For selfie enthusiasts, the 32-megapixel f/2.4 front camera can record 4K videos at up to 30 frames per second.

The camera system, featuring Hasselblad branding, is a standout feature of the OnePlus 12. A 50 MP f/1.6 main camera, featuring a sizable 1/1.4-inch Sony LYT808 sensor, leads the camera system. A 64 MP f/2.6 periscope telephoto camera, offering triple zoom and OIS, complements it, along with a 48 MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera featuring a 1/2-inch sensor. This triple-camera setup can record impressive 8K videos at 24 fps or 4K HDR videos in Dolby Vision.

Fueling the device is a substantial 5,400 mAh battery, capable of achieving a full charge in just 30 minutes via the USB-C port with an impressive 80 watts. Moreover, it supports wireless charging with speeds of up to 50 watts. OnePlus claims that even with fast charging, the battery should retain 80 percent of its original capacity after 1,600 full charging cycles.

Other features include USB 3.2 (5 Gbit/s), an in-display fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 7, and Bluetooth 5.4 with aptX HD and LDAC. However, it’s important to note that the OnePlus 12 lacks waterproof housing, and the IP65 certification only ensures protection against water splashes.
