Garmin Vivoactive 5 AMOLED smartwatch could also be an Apple Watch alternative!

Garmin has officially unveiled the new Vivoactive 5 smartwatch, now available to consumers. While this watch offers a robust set of features, it’s more geared towards individuals leading active lifestyles rather than extreme athletes. The device boasts an AMOLED-based display, which comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

Confirming previous leaks, Garmin has introduced the Vivoactive 5 to cater to those with active routines, although it’s not tailored for expedition participants.

The watch sports a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 390 x 390 pixels, shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The AMOLED display promises superior color representation compared to the previously utilized MIP displays. However, it comes at the cost of battery life, particularly when the always-on feature is active. In smartwatch mode, you can expect up to 5 days of battery life.

The bezel is crafted from aluminum, while the case itself is constructed from plastic, offering protection against water ingress up to a depth of 5 ATM.

The device comes with 4 GB of memory and supports local music playback. Unlike the Fenix models, the Vivoactive 5 doesn’t provide wrist navigation with offline maps. However, it offers extensive features for recording various sports activities, including pre-installed workouts accompanied by direct text instructions. Additionally, you can access an audio guide for meditation when using Bluetooth headphones.

This Garmin smartwatch also serves as a platform for displaying emails, messages, and notifications, featuring two font-size options. Furthermore, Garmin Pay and NFC capabilities enable contactless payments.

New Vivoactive 5 price and release date

The Vivoactive 5 is now available in various color options on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, with a price tag of just $299.99 and £259.99, respectively.

In addition to this stylish smartwatch, Garmin has introduced the Tactix 7 AMOLED multisport smartwatch, a rugged timepiece offering exceptional durability, an extended battery life, and an array of features suitable for both athletic pursuits and daily life. It’s available for $1,410, inclusive of Wearable4U Earbuds.
