The South Korean manufacturer has announced the prices of the LG QNED and LG NanoCell smart LED TVs. The new LG Smart TVs are therefore not limited to OLEDs, but also embrace the two most advanced LCD forms among those made by the Korean brand. The LG QNED TV and NanoCell TVs were first announced at CES 2022.
The first to arrive on the market will be the Ultra HD QNED91, QNED87, QNED86, QNED82, and QNED81. The acronyms shown are different from those communicated at the beginning of the year in Las Vegas. However, we must not be misled: the different numerical suffix indicates variants aimed at specific markets or with some small differences, for example, aesthetic elements or color. The QNED91 TVs should therefore have the same equipment as the QNED90: we are talking about LCDs based on Quantum Dot NanoCell Color Technology.
The 65″, 75″ and 86″ IPS panels are Ultra HD resolution. The backlight is a Full LED Array with local dimming and Mini LED; LG calls it Precision Dimming Pro. The image processing is managed by the Alpha 7 Gen 5 processor. There are also HDMI 2.1 inputs compatible with eARC, Auto Low Latency Mode, and Variable Refresh Rate (also FreeSync).
The QNED87 and QNED86 are positioned on a slightly lower step. They are still Ultra HD with Mini LEDs but with a less sophisticated backlight, named for this Precision Dimming (without Pro). The rest of the equipment is shared with the QNED91s. The available sizes are 55″, 65″, 75 “and 86″ (QNED86 only). QNED82 and QNED81 constitute the entry threshold in the QNED 2022 range. They are always IPS Ultra HD LCDs but with a completely different backlight: we are talking about Edge LEDs without local dimming and Mini LEDs. The available diagonals are 50″, 55″, 65″, 75” and 86″(QNED81 only).
