With the NTH-100, Rode presents its first own and would be the best over the ear headphones under $150. And that is aimed at all the people who create content. And content doesn’t just mean podcasts and live streams, but also music or video. Over-ear headphones for all occasions, equipped with 40mm neodymium drivers and over-ear design.
The manufacturer reports that the 40 mm neodymium drivers selected in pairs guarantee a balanced frequency response and distortion-free playback even at high volumes. The over-ear design and the memory foam used here also ensure effective external cushioning. In any case, the ear cups make a pretty spacious impression visually – we actually like that quite a bit.
The soft and breathable Alcantara material on the ear and headband is responsible for wearing comfort. A layer of CoolTech gel also absorbs heat and reduces listening fatigue. As with 99.9 percent of the existing over ear headphones, the ear cups can of course be moved on the bracket and fixed with the FitLok closure system used here.
The material used is not only comfortable but also robust according to Rode. The headband is made of spring steel, the coating of which is said to be scratch-resistant. The temples, ear cushions, and the non-hardwired cable can also be easily swapped out. Incidentally, the cable is 2.4 m long, a jack adapter is included in the scope of delivery, as is a set of colored identification rings.
