We have a most unusual smartphone for review called Lenovo A588t. This is a Flip phone and based on Android OS, it looks pretty nice from all sides and very trendy leather textured back panel. This is a pretty cool handset for business men and women as well to give tough competition to its rival such as Samsung. The specifications of the device are quite simple, a 4.0-inch display; a quad-core processor; only 512MB RAM and 4GB of native storage, but it works like a charm on the Android 4.4 Kitkat operating system. Design:
In appearance, it looks pretty good, but unfortunately it’s completely made of plastic material, all that golden shiny effects is only colored plastic. Front panel has a glossy plastic with dazzling golden effect, rear panel with the leather textured design, and in personal it looks quite exclusive or premium. But if they use metal or aluminum material to build the device than it could be look more luxurious.
Lenovo also adds that A588t is a Yoga style phone, so you can use it like a flip phone or like a small tablet with the yoga style for web surfing or gaming and watching movies. Most of people think that it has dual screen, but these doubts are also raised due to the fact that yoga style design.
Display:
Lenovo A588t features a 4.0-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 480×800 pixels is well suited for comfortable work. Quite small screen, even though the resolution is not bad, plus a good viewing angle and good brightness. Especially the minimum brightness is very comfortable to read at night, while the maximum brightness with bit lack in the heavy sunlight.
Performance:
As for performance, the specifications are clear that this is not the flagship or a gaming device, but handset scored around 17,000 points on AnTuTu benchmark.
Lenovo A588t is powered by a Mediatek MT6582M chipset clocked 1.3 GHz quad-core processor and 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage. For memory expansion microSD slot is present with support for up to 32GB.
Keyboard:
Of course, Lenovo A588t has a touchscreen display, but there is a separate physical keyboard. If you are limited to a touch screen, then it is useless for you. There is a T9 physical keypad to dial a number, along with call answer and end button placed separately.
Well, there is also a physical navigation pad that can be used to navigate through the icons on the screen. But when you set the password or setting up a new account or if you want to send SMS you will still have to use the on-screen keyboard, because physical keypad only enter numbers.
Camera:
This Lenovo Flip Smartphone bears a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera with CMOS sensor. There is only one camera which placed above right corner of the keypad along with LED flash, so you can also capture self-portraits and video calling with it.
But the phone can be turned inside out, not to forget that Yoga style device so you can also as rear camera when fold in the opposite direction.
Connectivity & Battery:
As for the connection, it supports Dual SIM card slots in GSM or WCMA. The phone also has WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, you can insert two SIM card and one SD card. It will work on 3G network, depending on various region.
A558t packs in a 2250mAh battery, in my opinion, it is enough for such basic tasks like emailing, web-surfing, Facebook or Whats App, a very comfortable talking with this phone for a long time.
Final line:
Well, the Lenovo A588t is a really quite amusing device, however, is still difficult to say when it can appear on the various region. But, under $100 it is a good deal when big brand like Lenovo designed a Yoga style flip phone with physical keypad that runs Android OS. Well, it’s definitely not for everyone cup of tea, but if you are curios about Flip phone then its great.
