Kali Audio presents IN-8 2nd Wave – the new generation of the studio monitor, which has long since ceased to be an insider tip thanks to its very good price-performance ratio. As with all things, the predecessor also had a few aspects that could use a bit of optimization. The manufacturer has taken on this task for the “2nd wave”.
The proven design has of course not changed much. You have it continue here with a 3-way monitor to do that through the coaxial midrange and treble features. The middle driver surrounds the tweeter and works as a waveguide. A realistic sound and stereo image should still be guaranteed, while distortion remains as low as possible.
There is also a tri-amping class D amplifier with a total of 140 watts of power. The 8-inch woofer receives 60 watts of this, while the amplifier supplies mid and high frequencies with 40 watts each. However, the amplifier module has been revised and thus has 12 dB less inherent noise and at the same time delivers a 3 dB higher output (a total of 117 dB Max SPL). That sounds like a significant improvement! The frequency response remains the same: 37 Hz to 25 kHz at -10 dB and 45 Hz to 21 kHz at +3 dB.
L verifiable transducer membranes promise in IN-8 2nd Wave studio speakers a faster transient and improved housing design provides the manufacturer for more reliability.
The high-frequency behavior is refined by a vote, the updated en Boundary EQ wants to make settings even more practical. This also includes a new preset for horizontal positioning.
When it comes to connections, the studio monitor continues to use a jack, XLR, and Cinch. The loudspeaker is not only good in the studio, but also as a monitor for a DJ setup at home.
