Kali Audio IN-5 is the new 5-inch near-field Studio Monitor speakers from the Californian speaker manufacturer. Compared to the IN-8, new monitor audio speakers are more geared towards eavesdropping in small rooms.
The near-field studio speakers IN-5 has a bass reflex system with a “level-fixed” woofer. Instead of the usual tweeter with 3D imaging waveguides, as with the IN-8, there is a coaxial combination of midrange and treble. The 4-inch midrange driver also functions as a waveguide.
The tip deflection was minimized to 1 mm and should thus avoid the intermodulation distortions that otherwise occur in coaxial systems. The mid-range audio monitor speaker relieves the woofer and tweeter equally – according to the manufacturer, therefore the IN-5 plays more harmoniously and without distortion than conventional 2-way studio monitor speakers.
The crossover frequency of the 5-inch woofer is 280 Hz, Kali Audio does not promise any phase cancellation on the vertical axis. The manufacturer also certifies the coaxial arrangement an improved stereo image and a detailed mix. The boundary EQ known from the LP series quickly adapts the IN-5 monitor to various studio environments.
As usual, you will find inputs for XLR, jack, and cinch – so you can use studio speakers flexibly. With a frequency range of 39 Hz to 25 kHz, you are also well-armed.
