Dell Vostro 3590 Review

Performance

In terms of configuration, the Dell Vostro 3590 features an Intel Core i7-10510U processor that promises smooth performance with various light and heavy tasks. It is equipped with integrated AMD Radeon 610R5 2GB graphics card instead of Intel UHD Graphics 620 as other products of the same price range with 8GB of RAM.

As usual, we will use GeekBench 5 software to measure the CPU and laptop performance. After a period of waiting, GeekBench 5 measured Dell 3590’s single-core CPU to 1,042 points and a multi-core of 2,604 points.

Meanwhile, on the performance test, GeekBench 5 measured this Dell Vostro laptop’s performance with 6,816 points. This is a fairly high score and we hope that the actual experience of the product will be as smooth as in theory.

If you are a fan of Dell then you probably know, The Vostros is a business product line and focuses on the ability to handle tasks in the smoothest and most intuitive way possible. After nearly 4 hours of continuous use, the device still runs smoothly despite opening 2 heavy tasks, Lightroom and Photoshop, and Chrome browser as usual but with up to more than 20 tabs.

The Dell 3590 presents itself for the industry people when handling well in terms of smoothness and stability. We appreciate the Vostro 3590 and praise for the Dell. So do you know which part of the device function to handle applications and software on your device? That is laptop hardware.

It is praiseworthy for Dell in general and Vostro 3590 in particular when this laptop is equipped with 256GB NVMe PCIe SSD. With a 256GB SSD, we expect the level of sensitivity in operation and activity to be high, giving a sense of pleasant use to complete work and study.

To measure the read/write speed of the 256GB SSD, we used the Crystal DiskMark software. Not waiting for a while, this software gives the SSD read speed of 1,587 MB/s, while the write speed reaches 512 MB/s. From the above results, we can conclude soon that this 256 GB SSD for stability and long-term operation.

We also experience the speed of opening some familiar applications to see how the stable 256 GB SSD works. I measured the speed of opening the device, opening Chrome, using two software from Adobe, Photoshop, and Lightroom. Along with that, we also measure the speed of opening basic tasks including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.

Not only that, but we also do not hesitate to download the League of Legends to play for you. But because Vostro 3590 is only a business laptop, high graphics limited the ability to run games smoothly, so we forced ourselves to lower the average configuration to run.

Design

In terms of design, the Dell Vostro 3590 is quite large, with black tones and the Dell logo in the center. Honestly, we think this design is not very new because all Dell products have this style like the Vostro 5590 (Review).

The Dell 3590 is made of plastic, along with smooth edges and curved edges that make it easy to hold. However, due to its large size, when you hold it for a long time, it will be quite heavy.

As we said above, the laptop’s back only has the Dell logo in the center and does not have a unique pattern. However, if you look a little closer, you will see the back is designed as a mesh to help users hold their hands more firmly. But, the back is very easy to stick to the fingerprint.

In terms of connectivity, the Dell Vostro 3590 has a power port, HDMI, LAN, 2 USB ports, and a 3.5mm audio jack on the left side. Meanwhile, on the right side, the Dell Vostro laptop has a built-in drive (E), a VGA port (which has been removed in many modern laptops), an additional USB port, and a MicroSD card slot.

Display

As we mentioned above, the Dell Vostro 3590 is quite large. Taking benefits of this advantage, Dell did not hesitate to equip the laptop with a screen up to 15.6 inches in size with Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) resolution.

Actually, we were impressed with the large screen of the laptop but unfortunately, the surrounding edges are still too thick and it seems that Dell doesn’t want to cut it. The top border is 22 mm thick, the side edge is 17 mm thick, so does this affects your experience?

This only affects a little bit, if you are someone who really cares about visibility when buying a laptop. Because, for thick borders, sometimes you will see the screen as if it shrinks. But if you spend a long time, you will gradually get used to this type of Dell design.

In return, Dell Vostro 3590 is equipped with Anti-Glare technology, allowing you to use the laptop outdoors easily. However, at the present pandemic time, you should limit yourself to hit the road to protect yourself and everyone.

Keyboard and Touchpad

Coming to the keyboard, the first plus point for the Dell Vostro 3590 when the laptop has a keyboard with a long key journey (including the number key on the right). Thanks to this, data entry and office work become much easier and more convenient (perfect for office workers to work at home as well).

The feel of the keys is comfortable and the distance between buttons is quite open, high response brings convenience in handling home tasks. However, the Dell Vostros 3xxx series does not have a built-in backlight, which is a bit disappointing.

The touchpad is impeccable because the surface is very smooth and fast. We’re very concerned that the laptop will have a slight hesitation in the touchpad, but the user experience is very convenient and there’s no complaint at all.

With the Dell 3590, you are given a fingerprint sensor into the laptop’s power button. Thanks to the fingerprint sensor, the security is significantly increased, giving you more peace of mind when storing important files on your laptop.

Battery

When it came to battery life, we fully charged the battery and waited until the device was at 90%, we started to launch the BatteryMon software to measure the battery life of the laptop. After more than 3 hours and 14 minutes, BatteryMon gave the result. The result of laptop time is more than 4 hours (specifically 4 hours 23 minutes).

This is the amount of time we measured the brightness of the screen to be 80%, 100% speaker volume, WiFi on, and use common tasks constantly. If you open more heavy tasks and play games, the battery level will be significantly reduced.

I used Chrome to watch videos, resulting in the device being able to work for over 6 hours. So, if you want a longer duration, you should use it in moderation and turn off the laptop to sleep mode (if necessary) or open fewer tasks only.

Heatsink

In a popular style, the Dell Vostro 3590 also has a built-in heatsink located on the back of the keyboard. We appreciate this design because it not only brings aesthetics (because it is obscured) but also has little effect on the user experience (compared to devices with heatsink located on the side).

So does the radiator of the laptop work effectively? To answer this question, we used AIDA64 software and measured the CPU temperature of 83 ° C in about 1 hour 30 minutes.

It is quite a high temperature and we also tried to touch the top of the keyboard. To know if it’s really hot or not? here you may feel a bit insecure because the device gets too hot, so you have to limit your use constantly and turn the device off when not in use. Would only be appropriate.

Audio

Finally, for audio, the Dell Vostro 3590 has bottom-placed speakers and close to the corner. With this design, the speakers will create surround sound effects and bring more interesting sound quality.

The audio technology that Dell uses for the Vostro 3590 is the Waves MAXXaudio. If you don’t know, this technology helps sound louder, clearer, create surround effects, and solid Bass. In addition, MAXXaudio also provides professional audio controls for users.

Final line

The Dell Vostro 3590 not only provides smooth performance with tasks to provide a user-friendly experience but also provides long battery life for work or playing games. Along with the Dell style, the Vostro 3590 will be a great choice for Dell fans in the current season with pricing starts from $700 for the standard model at the Bhphtovideo.com and Amazon.com stores.
