Astell & Kern announced the next generation portable dual DAC player called AK70 MKII is the successor of the AK70 Hi-Fi player. The new AK70 MKII looks aesthetically very similar to the previous model. The aluminum body measures 62.8 x 96.8 x 15.2 mm with a weighs just 150 grams.
The Astell & Kern AK70 MKII uses a CS4398 dual digital-to-analog converter (DAC) made by Cirrus Logic (AK70 used single DAC). Supported sampling frequencies up to 192kHz / 24-bit, playback of DSD files (with PCM conversion) and Wi-Fi streaming (802.11 b / g / n) are supported.
AK70 MKII DAC can be used USB audio, so it can be used with external sources as well. Compatibility with CD Ripper Accessory is guaranteed, useful for copying CDs to integrated memory.
The touchscreen display of 3.3-inches with a resolution of 480×800 pixels. Supported file formats such as WAV, FLAC, WMA, MP3, OGG, APE (Normal, High, Fast), AAC, ALAC, AIFF, DFF and DSF Connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.0 (with A2DP, AVRCP and aptX), balanced headphone outputs and a USB Micro-B port.
There are 64GB of NAND memory and a microSD slot for storing tracks (supports up to 256GB) Complete the 2500mAh battery (AK70 was stopped at 2200mAh). Astell & Kern AK70 MKII has been priced at around £600 and will be available in Noir Black color starting from October this year.
