LG UltraWide 40WP95XP 5K2K WUHD monitor with Thunderbolt 4

The business screen LG 40WP95C, which was released last year, seems to be getting a new edition soon. The LG 40WP95XP 5K2K WUHD monitor also belongs to the manufacturer’s UltraWide series and relies on a 39.7- inch NanoIPS panel with a 5K2K resolution (5120 x 2160 pixels, 21:9) and curvature.

The official German product page does not provide further information on the refresh rate, but you should be able to count on 72Hz, as with the predecessors. The specs state a color depth of 10 bits (probably 8 bits + FRC ), 5 ms response time (grey to gray), 300 cd/m² brightness, 98 percent DCI-P3, and a 1000:1 contrast ratio. In addition, FreeSync (without LFC), a picture-by-picture mode, and two internal 10-watt speakers are also part of the game.

However, there are striking differences when looking at the EU energy label. Thanks to the presumably newer panel, the LG monitor 5K2K 40WP95XP only needs 40 instead of 57 watts for SDR and is classified in the EU energy efficiency class F instead of G. However, the power consumption in HDR mode is a little higher at 72 instead of 70 watts. However, you shouldn’t expect much from the HDR10 support anyway due to the mediocre brightness values and the lack of dimming.

For connectivity, a 5K Thunderbolt display packs two HDMI inputs, a DisplayPort 1.4, a USB 3.0 hub, and a headphone jack. Thanks to Thunderbolt 4 with USB-C, you can charge your notebook with up to 96 watts and at the same time transmit video signals via DisplayPort alternate mode. Since the modern interface is available as an input and output, daisy chain functionality is also available again, with which multi-monitor setups can be conveniently set up.

The LG 40WP95XP 5K2K WUHD monitor from the UltraWide series weighs 10.2 kg without a stand and has a black stabilizer; and can be tilted, rotated, and adjusted in height. A blue light filter, a flicker-reduced backlight, and a VESA mount (100 x 100 mm) have also been considered.
