Optoma UHD55 4K Ultra HD Projector with HDR and 3600 lumens

The Optoma UHD55 4K UHD home theater projector will enrich the Ultra HD model range starting next spring. The heart of the new 4K projector for home consists of a 0.47″ DLP chip with 1920 x 1080 micro-mirrors, the same that we find on many projectors on the market as the Xiaomi Laser Cinema 2 or the Optoma UHZ50.

The Ultra HD resolution is not native: to obtain it, eXpanded Pixel Resolution (XPR) technology is used, which recreates four pixels for each of the 1920 x 1080 micro-mirrors. The light source consists of a lamp (which should be around 240 W) which guarantees a maximum luminance of 3,600 lumens. The duration is estimated to be at least 4,000 hours and rises to over 10,000 with settings that are more par in consumption and obviously less bright.

The lens has a 1.21 – 1.59: 1 shooting ratio with 1.3x zoom and manual focus. Optoma claims a dynamic contrast ratio of up to 1.2 million to 1 with Dynamic Black active. Among the most interesting functions, we point out the possibility of managing Full HD signals at 240 Hz in order to reduce the input lag, which in these conditions drops to 4 ms.

Also worthy of mention is the interpolation of the frames through PureMotion, the integrated media player, and the ability to control functions with Alexa after pairing an external speaker. UHD55 home projector is compatible with HDR in HDR10 and HLG formats.

Available connections include two HDMI 2.0b inputs, one VGA input, one 3.5mm jack audio input and output, one optical digital output, two USB-A ports (one for service functions), one RS232, and a 12 V trigger.

Recently, LG also introduced the Cinebeam HU715Q UST projector for home consists of a DLP chip which, barring surprises, should be a 0.47″ (against the 0.66″ of HU85LA) with Ultra HD resolution obtained through eXpanded Pixel Resolution (XPR), a solution that allows you to recreate four pixels for each of the 1920 x 1080 micro-mirrors present, and is priced at $2,999.
