Garmin is launching a new multisport smartwatch with the Enduro 2. It should – the name already suggests it – be persistent. According to the manufacturer, the runtime in smartwatch mode should be up to 46 days, and the GPS module should last up to 150 hours. This information applies to sufficient charging via the solar module.

In GPS expedition mode, the runtime with solar charging is estimated at up to 172 days. The GPS runtime can be extended by adapting the recording rate to the type of activity, in the energy-saving watch mode the model should even last up to 550 days.

The Power Sapphire watch glass is designed to protect the 1.4-inch MIP screen with a resolution of 280 x 280 pixels from damage, while the titanium bezel and the titanium-reinforced, fiber-reinforced polymer case are designed to offer high durability. The water resistance rating is up to a pressure of 10 ATM.

In general, the new solar powered watches correspond to the current Fenix series, so they can also be operated via touchscreen and offers 32GB of internal memory. Music titles can be stored on this, extensive map material is installed and allows independent navigation without a smartphone. An LED flashlight is built in and is said to be twice as fast as the Fenix 7X (REVIEW).

Sports activities can also be recorded concerning heart rate and oxygen saturation, and adaptation to heat and altitude should be monitorable. For example, different apps with specific functions are available for trail running – according to the rules, the Adventure Racing app allows recording, but not the display of GPS data, and with the help of ClimbPro, climbs can be correctly classified. However, these applications are not exclusive to the Enduro 2.

Garmin Enduro 2 price and availability

The Garmin Enduro 2 waterproof solar watch is now available from Amazon.com at $1,099.99 in limited quantity.
