Universal Audio Debut Three New UAFX Pedals

Wow, what a surprise! After Warm Audio, another manufacturer of studio equipment is making its debut on the guitar market. The Universal Audio UAFX Reverb, Effects, and Delay Pedal models are three exciting floor kicks with digital replicas of legendary effects devices. As expected, UA is targeting the upper class. Can the devices convince you despite the high price?

Universal Audio UAFX Guitar Effects Pedal

When we had familiarized ourselves with the world of audio interfaces from Universal Audio in October of last year, we quickly realized that it was not only the hardware that lived up to its excellent reputation. The plug-ins also sounded great and gave us great pleasure. The request quickly arose to be able to take this with me onto the stage in a solid housing without a computer connection.

What all guitar effects pedal devices have in common is an extremely solid-looking housing with six controls, three switches, and two foot-switches. They also have preset/live modes, analog dry-through, stereo/dual-mono operation, and true bypass with silent switching (can be switched to buffered bypass via the UAFX control software). Other additional downloadable effects can be installed via USB Type C in the future.

Golden Reverb Stereo Effects Pedal

Golden Reverb Stereo Effects Pedal

This Golden boy offers the great classic reverbs – from the dense sound of the studio plates of the 1950s to the tube-powered spring reverb of the classic guitar amps of the 1960s to the endless algorithmic wonder of the vintage digital reverbs. The Golden reverb pedal promises decades of legendary reverb sounds in a stompbox. The three algorithms are called Spring 65 (Fender), Plate 140 (EMT), and Hall 224 (Lexicon) effects and offer an essential range of vintage reverb textures, which can be controlled as desired using the bass, treble, modulation, decay, and pre-delay controls can be fine-tuned.

It has been priced at $399 and can be pre-ordered through the Bhphotovideo.com website.

Starlight Echo Station Stereo Delay Pedal

The Starlight Echo Station is based on Universal Audio’s many years of experience in the analog emulation of classic delay effects. There are three delay types to choose from Tape EP-III (Maestro Echoplex), Analog DMM (Electro-Harmonix), and Precision. Based on the original models of the last 60 years, Starlight offers additional settings for tape wear, modulation, and preamp color. The preset button also works for TAP tempo. Very good!

The third in the group is a modulation workstation. From spacey studio flanger sounds of the 1970s (MXR rack unit) to a robust bucket brigade chorus (BOSS CE-1) to the Opto-tube tremolo (Fender Blackface) – Flanger DBLR, Chorus Brigade, and Trem 65. The setting options include secondary modes for vibrato, doubling, and more.
