Sony Xperia 1 III Pre-orders are live with an early buyers bonus

Sony’s new flagship should be delivered from next month in North America. At least the official Sony Xperia 1III pre-order websites are now live confirming early buyers will receive a bonus.

sony xperia 1iii release date

The Sony Xperia 1 III was officially presented in mid-April, apart from the information that the new Sony Xperia 1 III release date is final, it should be delivered from mid-August.

Sony has now set up an official pre-order on the Bhphotovideo.com, Adorama.com, Amazon.com, and Bestbuy.com websites, where you can book your device for $1,298. If you order the Xperia 1III, you will probably get the new Sony WH-1000XM3 (approx. $198 on Amazon) for free and 43,200 Call of Duty Mobile CP points. For a small surcharge – annoying, because the newer WF-1000XM4 (REVIEW) earbuds are already available to buy.

Such bundles are nice, but Sony’s launch policy seems to be getting worse and worse – with the Sony Xperia Pro it took over a year from the announcement to the sales launch but was available back in January this year.

Sony Xperia 1III is a 5G-enabled smartphone, which features a triple-lens camera, waterproof certification, a 120Hz 4K OLED display, and even a 3.5mm audio jack. Sony has improved the quality of the primary camera of the Xperia 1III over that of its predecessor. It competes with the Galaxy S21 Ultra and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The camera setup uses Zeiss lenses with a T-coating, a 3D ToF sensor for distance measurement and real-time tracking. The new autofocus makes 60 AF/AE calculations per second to enable up to 20 fps photos with precise focus and exposure. The variable telephoto camera uses a folded periscope design lens and a 12 MP 1/2.9-inch sensor with OIS and an f/2.3 or f/2.8 aperture depending on the focal length.

Sony also offers an AI super-resolution zoom that can enable a digital zoom length equivalent to 300 mm. The primary camera is also 12 MP but with a 1/1.7-inch sensor with an f/1.7 OIS lens. The ultrawide lens is another 12 MP shooter with a 1/2.6-inch sensor and an f/2.2 aperture. Interestingly, the ultrawide lens is also capable of autofocus, something we don’t find often in the current crop of Android flagships. The selfie camera is the same 8 MP sensor as in the previous generation.
