Ricoh Theta X flexible 360-degree camera with touch LCD for VR

The new Ricoh Theta X is the first 360 degree camera in the Theta series with LCD and display with touch controls and can take photos at up to 60 Mpx and 5.7K videos with its two 48Mpx image sensors. In addition, the battery of the new Ricoh 360 camera can finally be changed, and the internal 48GB memory can be expanded using microSD cards.

With the new Theta X Ricoh camera, user-friendliness has been significantly improved with a 2.25-inch LCD for recording control, which also serves as a touchscreen for controls. In addition, the new VR camera, as the first Theta camera, now has the option of using memory cards and a removable battery in addition to the integrated memory. Removable batteries and memory cards now also allow extended recording sessions.

With the Ricoh Theta X, the compactness of the Theta series has been retained, making the VR cam easy to use anywhere. The new 360 degree camera has two image sensors (type 1/2.0 inch) each with a resolution of 48 Mpx. That allows the Ricoh 360 camera to take photos with a maximum resolution of 60 Mpx (11,008 × 5,504 px) and videos in 5.7 K. A key component is the large 2.25-inch full-color touchscreen display, which improves usability as a stand-alone camera. The VR camera operation as well as the image viewing is now done on the display, which means that you can work independently of smartphones.

Ricoh Theta X 360 degree camera features:

  • With built-in GPS and support A-GPS function, accurate position information can be obtained from the device.
  • The camera uses magnesium alloy as the body material, which ensures sturdiness and excellent heat dissipation properties.
  • The USB Type-C port on the side of the body allows the camera to be powered even when using a tripod.
  • The Time Shift recording mode enables time-shifted recordings on both sensors. That makes it possible for the photographer not to appear on the recording without having to leave the room.
  • In burst mode, the camera captures 20 still images per second at 5.5K resolution.
  • The new touch shutter function is flexible, with which a photo can be taken by tapping on the touchscreen display as an alternative to pressing a shutter button.
  • Images can be registered as favorites from the list of images displayed on the touch panel display. These images can then be viewed in the Theta app on a smartphone.
  • Still image playback orientation can be selected in Capture settings. The Ricoh Theta X features recognition technology to identify the subject in images that are captured and displayed appropriately oriented.
  • Exposure compensation and white balance can be adjusted with the camera itself before the live stream.
  • Easily switch between different capture modes (still, video, custom settings, live streaming, plug-in) with the mode button.
