Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro wired mechanical gaming keyboard with command dial and chroma RGB

The BlackWidow V3 Pro mechanical gaming keyboard could also be used wirelessly as a wireless keyboard. But the new Razer BlackWidow V4 Pro is a purely wired keyboard. The linear clicky tactile keyboard comes with a command dial, dedicated macro and media keys, and immersive lighting.

The brand new BlackWidow V4 Pro is the successor to the mechanical full-size wireless gaming keyboard (2.4 GHz) BlackWidow V3 Pro (approx. $295 / £150 on Amazon). The successor BlackWidow V4 Pro is a USB-C keyboard and does not offer wireless, but USB 2.0 passthrough for peripherals.

Razer launches the BlackWidow V4 Pro as a 1.64-kilogram full-size keyboard with a top cover made of 5052 aluminum alloy, a new command dial, dedicated macro keys, immersive Razer Chroma RGB lighting including an illuminated underbody, and dedicated media controls. Razer states dimensions of 46.6 x 15.2 x 4.4 centimeters for the V4 Pro of the BlackWidow series. The two USB cables supplied with the V4 Pro are detachable.

At the top left, the new Command Dial offers numerous control options and shortcuts for desktop apps and games. In addition, dedicated macro keys allow complex actions to be performed with one touch. All keys of the BlackWidow V4 Pro have individual key lighting, and Razer has given the bottom of the V4 Pro 38-zone RGB lighting. The illuminated leatherette palm rest is magnetically docked to the Razer keyboard.

The Command Dial has 8 default modes including zooming in and out and switching between browser tabs. The wheel can be programmed with up to 100 user-defined modes. Each mode can be switched with a simple click of the wheel and quickly assigned by the player thanks to the color-coded backlight on the wheel. There are 5 macro keys on the left and 3 quickly accessible along the edge (8 in total). When it comes to the keycaps, Razer continues to do without high-quality PBT keycaps on the BlackWidow V4 Pro and continues to use double-shot ABS keycaps.

As mechanical switches, Razer also offers a choice of green clicky switches for tactile feedback or yellow linear switches for comfortable and quiet typing. According to initial tests, the Clicky switches are very loud and less suitable for streamers and chats with a microphone. Razer puts the polling rate at up to 8,000 Hz. The lighting of the BlackWidow V4 Pro supports Razer Chroma RGB and can be synchronized with other peripherals.

BlackWidow V4 Pro price and availability

Razer quotes a sporty price of under $230 / £260 for the BlackWidow V4 Pro, and already available from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk online e-shops.

Razer recently unveiled two gaming mice designed for fans of multiplayer online games – Naga V2 Pro and Naga V2 HyperSpeed. A distinctive feature of the first Pro gaming mouse is interchangeable side panels, allowing you to increase or decrease the number of available side buttons. The second feature is a wireless connection to a PC and a long battery life.
