Earlier this month, Polar has introduced the new premium sport watch, Polar Vantage V2, which is now available to buy on Amazon. The GPS polarsport watch is the successor to the Vantage V Polar smartwatch and comes with some improvements and innovations.
Polar held a live event on YouTube to announce these new fitness watches for men. It is the successor to the two-year-old Vantage V fitwatch, which is now available on Amazon for $415.80.
Visually, hardly anything has changed. In the front of the sport watch, which weighs 52 g with a strap and therefore has become lighter, there is an always-on color touch display that is protected by laminated Gorilla glass. The screen is 1.2 inches and has a resolution of 240 x 240 pixels. The housing consists of an aerospace aluminum alloy with glass fiber reinforced polymer.
The integrated battery measures 346 mAh and, according to Polar, should enable battery life of up to 40 hours in training mode with GPS and optical heart rate measurement with the Precision Prime sensor on the wrist. In a normal watch mode with continuous heart rate measurement, the battery lasts up to 7 days. So not much has changed in terms of battery life.
However, it can be stretched through various energy-saving options.
New Polar sports watches for men have GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and QZSS are used to determine position and track sports. The sports functions include VO2max determination, a running and cycling performance test, and a leg recovery test. Another new feature is a route planning with Komoot, which can then be imported onto the watch.
In addition, the waterproof smartwatch offers many other features that have distinguished Polar sports watches for some time. In conjunction with a smartphone connected via Bluetooth, music control and other smartwatch functions are available. Among other things, weather forecasts and smart notifications are displayed.
Polar Vantage V2 price and availability
The Polar Vantage V2 is available in two versions and three colors (black, silver / gray, and black/green). With the H10 heart rate sensor (chest strap) it costs around $550, without it is $499.95. It can be purchased through the Amazon.com now.
Earlier this month, Fossil has also introduced a brand new line of smartwatches called the Fossil Gen 5E is almost identical to the existing Gen 5, but there is now a smaller 42 mm version. In terms of technology, some compromises have to be accepted, which must have been made in favor of the lower price.
