Panasonic Lumix G100D Unveiled: Pre-order Price and Release Date

Panasonic has officially unveiled the Lumix G100D, a new Micro Four Thirds camera. This updated model features a viewfinder with a Live View OLED panel boasting a resolution of 2.36 million dots. Additionally, the MicroUSB Type-B port from the base 2020 model has been replaced with Type C.

Internally, the camera retains the same 20-megapixel image sensor with five-axis digital stabilization as the G100 (limited to 4 axes for 4K). It supports 4K video recording at up to 30 frames, with a maximum continuous recording time of 10 minutes. The autofocus system comprises 49 zones, offering Eye, Face, and Star AF capabilities.

The 5-axis Hybrid I.S. is an optimized image stabilization system that collaborates with lens-based OIS to minimize camera shake for smoother video footage and sharper stills.

Featuring a 3-inch 1.84m-dot LCD with touchscreen functionality, the updated UI for vlogging includes a REC Frame Indicator, presenting a red border around the image frame for easy confirmation of recording status. A Frame Marker overlay highlights the specific region of the frame based on the selected aspect ratio, ideal for direct output to social media platforms. Vertical video recording support caters to content intended for smartphone viewing.

A dedicated Video Selfie Mode automatically initiates when the screen is rotated forward, optimizing depth of field, utilizing face detection AF and AE settings, and configuring the sound pickup range based on the subject’s location.

The Lumix G100D incorporates Nokia’s OZO directional audio recording system, allowing users to adjust the direction of audio recording. While there is an input for an external microphone, a headphone output is notably absent.
