LG unveils 38WN95CP UWQHD+ Monitor with Better Energy Efficiency

LG has introduced the latest addition to its lineup of professional monitors in the UK, the 38WN95CP. This model serves as an updated version of the LG 38WN95C, which was released in 2020. While the two monitors are quite similar in terms of technical specifications and features, the 38WN95CP boasts a more advanced generation of Nano IPS technology that provides enhanced energy efficiency.

One notable improvement is the reduced power consumption in SDR mode, where the 38WN95CP draws only 37 watts compared to its predecessor’s 43 watts. However, both monitors require the same amount of power, 106 watts, for HDR functionality.

The new LG 38WN95CP features a 38-inch display with a resolution of 3840×1600 pixels, offering a wide aspect ratio of 21:9. With a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz, it provides smooth visuals for an immersive viewing experience. The monitor is also DisplayHDR 600-certified, ensuring vibrant and lifelike colors, and it covers 98 percent of the DCI-P3 color space. This wide color gamut enhances the visual quality, particularly in gaming scenarios where brighter red tones can greatly enhance the overall atmosphere.

Additional noteworthy specifications include a 5 ms response time (grey to grey), a 10-bit color depth (likely achieved through 8-bit + FRC technology), a brightness level of 450 cd/m², and a contrast ratio of 1000:1.

For audio capabilities, the monitor is equipped with two built-in 5-watt speakers, serving as sound generators when needed. To prevent screen tearing during gaming, the monitor supports both FreeSync Premium Pro and is G-Sync compatible with Adaptive Sync technology.

In terms of connectivity, the LG 38WN95CP offers two HDMI 2.0 inputs, a DisplayPort 1.4, a USB 3.0 hub, and a headphone output. Additionally, it provides Thunderbolt 3 compatibility, allowing notebooks to be charged with up to 94 watts of power. The monitor also supports DisplayPort alternate mode for increased flexibility.

Regarding ergonomics, the LG 38WN95CP leaves little to be desired with its rotation, tilt, and height adjustment options, as well as blue light filtering and flicker-reduced backlight technology. Given the monitor’s wide display, a pivot mode is not available.

In terms of dimensions, the LG 38WN95CP from the UltraWide series weighs 6.45 kg without the stand and measures 895.4 x 393.4 x 97.4 mm (W x H x D). As an alternative to anti-tearing measures, the monitor offers a mode specifically designed to reduce motion blur.

The LG 38WN95CP Nano IPS 1ms professional monitor is currently available for purchase on Amazon.co.uk, with a price tag of £1,249.99.
