Lenovo has unveiled the latest addition to its classic ThinkPad T series with the introduction of the ThinkPad T16 Gen 2. While it builds upon the previous models from last year, this update brings forth several noteworthy innovations.
The ThinkPad T series has been a staple since its inception in the year 2000. These reliable business laptops are receiving yet another update this year, featuring the latest processors such as the Intel Raptor Lake U series.
Specifically, the affordable T16 Gen 2 is receiving notable upgrades. One of the significant enhancements is the inclusion of OLED options for this year’s models. The ThinkPad T16 Gen 2 will now be available with a 4K UHD OLED display. Additionally, the AMD versions of the T16 Gen 2 will be equipped with USB4 for the first time, a feature that was previously exclusive to the T14s model.
In terms of memory, the AMD versions of the T16 Gen 2 will all receive an upgrade to LPDDR5X, with a maximum soldered capacity of 32 GB. On the other hand, the Intel versions will also see improvements, offering a configurable SO-DIMM slot for either DDR4 or DDR5 memory.
Building upon last year’s introduction of 1080p webcams, Lenovo is taking it a step further this year by offering the new ThinkPad T-series with optional 5-megapixel cameras.
Price and release date
The pricing for the new ThinkPad T16 Gen 2 starts at $1,462 for the base model, equipped with an i5-1335U SoC, 16GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD. Pre-orders can be made through the Bhphotovideo.com and Newegg.com online stores.
