Irix 150mm T3.0 Tele Cine Lens Announced

The Irix 150mm T3.0 Tele Cine lens is a new addition to cinema lenses. The original Irix 150mm T3.0 Macro Cine lens was released in 2019. This lens had a specialization in macro photography, including in the focus ring range movement. The manufacturer reports that it has received a lot of feedback asking for a version of this cine lens that would allow more comfortable working at long distances from the subject being shot.

The optical and mechanical design of the new lens is similar to the first version, but some differences are important from the user’s point of view.

The focusing distance range has been changed and starts from 0.67 m – this made it possible to significantly increase the accuracy of the focus ring movement in the range from 2 meters to infinity, according to Irix.

The ring’s range of motion remained unchanged at 270 degrees. The aperture range of the lens has also been changed – its maximum value in the new version is now 22.

The manufacturer emphasizes that the focal length of 150 mm in combination with an 11-blade rounded diaphragm provides a beautiful bokeh effect.

The optical design of the lens produces a very sharp image while retaining the soft tones and subtle glow that the company calls the Irix image look.

The Irix 150mm T3.0 Tele is capable of 8K resolution and consists of 12 optical elements. The lens has an internal focus, an industry-standard 95mm front diameter and a front 86mm filter thread to ensure compatibility with a range of pro cine matte boxes and filters.

The front of the lens is equipped with a magnetic mount for easier filter installation. Also, the focus ring is adaptive, making it easier to work with Follow-Focus systems, according to Irix.

In addition, the lens is protected from adverse weather conditions (5 rubber rings). The lens is made of magnesium alloy and has a durable metal construction. Its weight is 1105 grams. (Canon EF version).
