Pigtronix guitar effects pedals have always been very good, but so far they have had the problem that they look as futuristic as technology from Star Trek. The new Pigtronix Echolution 3 delay pedal has got the much-needed facelift and offers more features than many other offers in a small space – and does not cost that much with the diverse range of features.

Pigtronix guitar effects pedals have always been very good, but so far they have had the problem that they look as futuristic as technology from Star Trek. Most like it simple to always the same – and Pigtronix has now given the Echolution 3 a facelift. Better late than never. We think it’s successful. However, we have a few concerns that the footswitches were placed too close to the controls due to the design.

Four knobs control the Echolution 3: Time, Mix, Repeats, and Mod. Four mini pushbuttons switch different functions and activate other functions by holding them down for a long time. At the top left, for example, you set the divisions (also with golden mode), and a long press activates the multi-tap environment. Mod can act on Speed, Depth, and Tone via the push switch, and the Special FX switch at the bottom left can be switched between Tap, Reverse, Jump (octave up), and ( ping ) pong.

Pigtronix has kindly built-in 4 preset slots for this, which can be saved and retrieved via the push button or the footswitch.

The effects pedal has two mono inputs and two mono outputs, plus a MIDI sync input and another input for the in-house universal remote footswitch. And for the stereo mode, special FX such as ping-pong has a stereo mode (without this the effect makes little sense).

The delay time ranges from 100 ms to 5 seconds and can be adapted to the song using the tap tempo footswitch. You can activate a second delay tap via Multi-Tap, which can optionally be heard via the “Golden Ratio” (0.382″).

We think quite a lot for such a small guitar pedal. But spontaneously, we don’t find anything that we would be missing here – apart from perhaps a somewhat more generous housing.

Pigtronix Echolution 3 price and availability

The Pigtronix Echolution 3 is now available to buy via Amazon.com for $299. The competition has to dress warmly. We are not aware of any pedal with the range of functions at the price. Do you?

Recently, Pigtronix has also introduced the Gamma Drive overdrive pedal comes in a wonderfully rudimentary miniature format. However, it is anything but one-dimensional. It is a germanium-amplified distortion pedal with active treble and bass EQ controls and is priced at $129 only.
