DJI released an 8K cinema camera with lidar for almost $13,000

The long-awaited DJI Ronin 4D-8K cinema camera, announced two years ago, has finally hit the market. This comprehensive DJI Ronin 4D-8K combo comprises the Zenmuse X9-8K camera and a 4-axis stabilizer, presenting an array of features tailored for professional photography, including a lidar for swift focusing in various lighting conditions.

Crafted from aluminum-magnesium alloy and carbon fiber for the Z-axis arm, the DJI Ronin 4D 8K frame strikes a featherweight balance at 4.67 kg, a rarity in the realm of professional-grade devices. Driving its shooting capabilities is the full-frame Zenmuse X9-8K camera, equipped to capture video at 8K @ 60 fps and 4K @ 120 fps.

Notably, the DJI Ronin 4D-8K combo integrates dual native ISO technology spanning EI 320/1600 to EI 800/4000. This technology differentiates ISO values for shadows and highlights, effectively curbing noise while amplifying dynamic range. The camera boasts compatibility with Leica, Sony, and ARRI mounts while adhering to the ACES color coding system.

The camera is equipped with automatic focusing capabilities, presenting three focus modes – manual, automatic, and hybrid – ensuring sustained focus on subjects. The integration of the LiDAR rangefinder, with a range extending up to 10 m, enables autofocus irrespective of light and contrast, leveraging a sensor sporting 43,200 points.
