QNAP TS-133 affordable NAS with AI facial recognition

With the TS-133, QNAP offers the new best personal cloud storage device. Despite the relatively low price, the private cloud model should offer a wide range of functions and is equipped with an NPU.

QNAP TS-133 best personal cloud storage

With dimensions of 157.6 x 66 x 186 millimeters, the QNAP TS-133 is a very compact system that supports a single mass storage device installation. Specifically, the installation of a 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch drive is provided, with both SSDs and hard drives being able to be installed. The connection is made via SATA-III. An expansion enclosure can be connected via USB.

An ARM processor consisting of four Cortex A55 cores is used as the CPU, with a clock frequency of 1.8 GHz. The main memory measures two gigabytes and cannot be expanded. The flash memory is four gigabytes in size. A built-in NPU should greatly accelerate object and face recognition.

QTS 5 is installed, whereby the operating system should offer extensive possibilities. As usual, backups are possible, and data stored or backed up on the NAS can also be backed up with a cloud provider or another locally separate QNAP system. It can also be used as media storage, so both music files and high-resolution videos can be stored centrally. It is possible to create different users with different access rights.

Advanced users can benefit from the Docker integration and thus install applications. Under optimal circumstances, the data transfer rate should be 113 MB/s in download and 102 MB/s in upload, which would effectively exhaust the Gigabit Ethernet connection.

QNAP TS-133 price and availability

The TS-133 is now available from Amazon.com, Bhphotovideo.com, and Adorama.com websites at $139. As usual, the price does not include the necessary hard drive or SSD.

Apart from this best personal cloud storage, QNAP Systems has announced the HS-264 NAS best NAS for home use. A home NAS system is a multimedia center that can be formed with two HDMI interfaces that support a 4K video and is priced at $599.
