Laowa Nanomorph 65mm T2.4 and 80mm T2.4 1.5X cinema lenses available

Venus Optics introduces two new additions to its Anamorphic Laowa cine lens lineup in the Nanomorph series. Joining the previously released lenses, the compact optics Laowa Nanomorph 65mm T2.4 and 80mm T2.4 1.5X offer enhanced versatility for cinematographers. The announcement also includes the introduction of a front anamorphic adapter with a 1.33X zoom ratio.

The Anamorphic Nanomorph line, initially unveiled in May 2022, featured three lenses: Laowa Nanomorph 27mm T2.8 1.5x, 35mm T2.4 1.5x, and 50mm T2.4 1.5x. These compact lenses are specifically designed for Super35 sensors with a 16:9 aspect ratio, enabling operators to achieve a cinematic aspect ratio of 2.66:1.

Additionally, the series offers options for silver, blue, or amber flares. All lenses, including the newly introduced models, are compatible with Canon RF, Sony E, Micro Four Thirds, L, Nikon Z, DJI DL, and Fujifilm X bayonet mounts. For added flexibility, users have the option to install EF/PL mounts for an additional fee.

The new Laowa Nanomorph 65mm T2.4 and 80mm T2.4 1.5X lenses maintain a consistent 1.5X compression ratio across all focusing distances while remaining compact and lightweight.

In addition to the new Anamorphic Laowa cine lenses, Venus Optics will release a specialized 1.33X anamorphic front adapter. This adapter enables Laowa Nanomorph 1.5X cine lenses to achieve a 2X compression ratio. Remarkably, this adapter is also compatible with other spherical lenses, providing versatility in cinematography.

Venus Optics chose the 1.5X compression ratio to strike a balance between cinema lens size and the desired anamorphic visual effect. The 1.5X compression ratio enhances the oval bokeh, adding a distinctive touch to the cinematic experience.
