Sharp Aquos R has been officially launched in Japan, it is a new high-end flagship smartphone with 2K display, Fingerprint sensor, 22MP camera and powerful Snapdragon 835 CPU. The handset will be available in Black and Silver color variants. There is no further information on its pricing and availability.
The Sharp Aquos R features a 5.3-inch IGZO display with 2K (2048 x 1080 pixels) resolution and HDR10 with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device has a curved metal frame with glass on the back and front. It features a power button and volume button with a metallic finish. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of inbuilt storage.
On the camera front, the Sharp Aquos R flaunts a 22.6-megapixel primary autofocus camera with f/1.9 aperture, OIS, and LED flash. There is a 13.6-megapixel front-facing camera with a wide-angle sensor to capture wide self-portraits and quality video calling. The Sharp R comes equipped with a front fingerprint sensor embedded under the home button to unlock the device quickly.
The handset runs on Android 7.1 Nougat OS and a 3160mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 out of the box. It supports dual SIM slot with dual standby, and its own AI assistant called Emopa will provide useful details such as news and weather reports according to the location of the user. It will also study the owner’s usage habits and remind you to set alarms.
The Sharp R also comes with a smart charging dock called Robokuru that works with Emopa. If a call comes in, the dock rotates and searches for the face of the owner using the front facing camera. The device has a IPX5, IPX8 waterproof rating and an IP6X dustproof rating.
