Panasonic Lumix GF8 Mirrorless Camera with Selfie Centric Features Announced

Panasonic has announced a new Selfie centric camera called Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF8, which is positioned as a fashionable camera with the ability to easily capture high-quality self-portraits. Panasonic Lumix GF8 mirrorless camera is considered as an upgraded variant of last year launched Lumix DMC-GF7 model.

As its predecessors the new Lumix GF8 camera also inherits the 16.0-megapixel Four Thirds CMOS Sensor and Venus Engine image processor. As before, the available range of ISO 200-25600, and minimum limit can be expanded up to ISO 100. The contrast AF system along with variety of features such as Face/Eye Detection AF or Low Light AF, Selective single-point, Tracking
Continuous and much more.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF8 comes equipped with a 3.0-inch touch-screen display with a resolution of 1.04 million pixels, which can tilt up to 180 degree angle. As a result, the user can easily capture trendy self-portraits and correct certain of its elements. GF8 goes into Self Shot Mode automatically once the monitor is flipped.

It also includes some features focused on shooting self-portraits such as Self Shot Mode, Soft Skin mode and Beauty Retouch function. After shooting, you can even put on virtual make-up on the face in the playback mode with Beauty Retouch. You can add various effects such as clearing the skin texture, lifting up the face whitening of teeth and much more. In the Make-up Retouch, users can choose the color of eye-shadow, lips, cheeks or foundation.

The shutter speed range extends from 1/16000 sec to 60 sec (mechanical shutter speed to 1/500 second). Flash sync speed is 1/50 sec. Built-in flash range of 5.6 m, at ISO 200. The camera allows continuous shooting speed up to 5.8 fps and full HD video resolution up to 1920 x 1080 pixels at 60 fps.

The camera is equipped with a wireless module that supports Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n and NFC, interfaces, USB 2.0 and HDMI, slot for SD memory cards, SDHC and SDXC. It measures 107 x 65 x 33 mm and weighs around 266 grams, it packs in Lithium-ion battery which can allow you to capture up to 230 shots. The Panasonic Lumix GF8 price and availability hasn’t been announced yet.
