The biggest mobile operator in Britain – EE recently announced their first action camera with built-in 4G connectivity so you can live stream your activities. The camera, called 4GEE Action Cam with integrated 4G connectivity. The entire image from this camera will be webcast live on EE applications through high speed 4G LTE internet.
This 4GEE Action Cam has quite similar shape, size and weight as GoPro Hero Cameras. Inside the camera is a 13 megapixel sensor with 1080p video recording capability at 30fps, 720p at 60fps, 480p at 120fps and 4288 x 3216 pixel stills.
Currently live streaming feature is limited to 720p at 30fps, aperture of 4GEE is quite large, reaching F/2.8. The Action Cam with 4GB of internal memory and you will be able to add external memory if you want to archive directly. The camera also has a long lasting battery with a capacity of 2260mAh, allows Full HD 1080p video recording around 3 hours or 720p recording up to 4.5 hours via 4G.
The 4GEE Action Cam covered with water shield as GoPro Waterproof Camera. With this shell, 4GEE works well at depths up to 60 meters and impact resistant. In addition to the camera, the Action Cam also comes with a Viewfinder Watch.
During the event, EE followed in Google Glass’ footsteps and showed us a live stream of James Kingston climbing the arch above Wembley Stadium. It was admittedly quite impressive: the stream quality was pretty good, with a low amount of data corruption and frame droppage. EE has some serious 4G LTE infrastructure deployed at Wembley Stadium, however, so it may not be representative of Action Cam usage around the country.
When you buy 4GEE, you will get a 4G packet data with relatively cheap price, only £30 for 5GB per month and the lowest plan with 1GB capacity. EE will sell the device on next June 16 for £300, you can order from the EE official website.
The 4GEE Action Cam act as GoPro Camera includes visual effects, an ultra-wide viewing angle and high frame rates. Previously, GoPro has also joined hands with ESPN to create a special system for the ESPN Winter Games 2015.
