Archos 50 Cesium and Archos 50e Helium: Windows 10 and Android 5.1 Smartphones Launched

Ahead of the event IFA 2015, Archos has unveiled two new smartphones, the Archos 50 Cesium and Archos 50e Helium, have been silently launched in UK priced at £99 – approximately $155 for both devices, In which 50 Cesium runs Windows 10 OS and 50e Helium on Android 5.1 Lollipop.

While there are no official availability details for the other regions, we expect the company will announce them in the coming days.

Both the Archos 50 Cesium and Archos 50e Helium feature nearly identical specifications such as a 5.0-inch HD (720×1020 pixels) IPS display and pixel density of 294ppi. Both the devices are powered by a 1.1GHz quad-core processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 chip, 1GB of RAM; 8GB of inbuilt storage, and expandable storage via microSD card up to 32GB.

Both smartphones sport an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash while also housing a 2-megapixel front camera for video calling. Both the dual-SIM based handsets, features 2100mAh battery and support 4G LTE connectivity.

Some of the specifications differ, with the Archos 50 Cesium is running Windows 10 Mobile and the Archos 50e Helium is running the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop. Windows 10 is the latest Windows release and features Cortana, the Windows personal assistant, Microsoft Office apps, a more intuitive email inbox, and more. Android 5.1 Lollipop is the latest version of the famed Android software and offers better battery management, a dynamic notification system, and an aesthetically pleasing flat design.
