Fossil unveiled the latest generation of the popular Skagen Falster smartwatch series. The Skagen smartwatch is getting mighty hardware upgrades, including a Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+ and a quick charge function.
The brand new Skagen Falster Gen 6 is technically based on the Fossil Gen 6 (approx. $230 on Amazon), so there are no surprises in terms of equipment. Compared to the Skagen HR Falster 3 there are still some powerful upgrades, including the Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100+, which should enable a 30 percent better performance. There is also 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of flash memory.
The battery can now be charged twice as fast so that the Skagen men’s watches can be charged to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. Fossil does not give any details about the running time, but similar to the Fossil Gen 6, the watch should have to be charged daily. The smart watch measures 42 millimeters diagonally, the case is 11.5 millimeters thick. The clock has a round AMOLED display with a diagonal of 1.28 inches and a resolution of 416 x 416 pixels.
The housing of the device is waterproof to a depth of 5 ATM, an NFC chip enables mobile payment, and the connection to the smartphone is via Bluetooth 5.0 Low Energy. The Skagen watch bands have a heart rate sensor and a SpO2 sensor as well as the fitness tracking features already known from the Fossil counterpart. The Skagen Falster Gen 6 will still be delivered with Google Wear OS 2, the update to Wear OS 3.0 will follow later this year.
