Sennheiser Ambeo Mini Soundbar is set to make its official debut on September 1st, priced at $799.99, following a series of substantial leaks. Positioned as the most diminutive member within the coveted Ambeo soundbar lineup, the Mini touts remarkable 3D audio capabilities. Noteworthy features include room calibration, virtualized 7.1.4 surround sound, as well as comprehensive support for Dolby Atmos and DTS:X, alongside integration with voice assistants such as Alexa, Chromecast, AirPlay, and various popular streaming services.

Today, Sennheiser unveiled its latest addition to the Dolby Atmos Bluetooth soundbar family, described as the most compact offering. This product rounds out the Ambeo collection, complementing the Plus and Max soundbars, along with the Ambeo Sub subwoofer. The Max and the mid-sized Plus have already garnered widespread acclaim for their immersive 3D audio capabilities, setting high expectations for the Mini.

Sennheiser reports that the Ambeo Mini occupies less than half the space of its Ambeo Plus counterpart. Equipped with six speakers, including four full-range and two four-inch subwoofers, it packs a robust 250-watt punch, capable of delivering low frequencies as deep as 43 Hz.

In contrast to the Plus and Max models, which feature nine and thirteen speakers, respectively, the Mini diverges in its design by eschewing the upward-firing speakers typically required for the overhead sound component in Dolby Atmos systems. However, Sennheiser asserts that it can emulate up to 7.1.4 virtualized channels using advanced DSP techniques. Additionally, it incorporates Ambeo’s One-Touch Room Calibration functionality, which meticulously analyzes the room’s acoustic properties and fine-tunes the surround virtualization to accommodate various room sizes.

Competing fiercely in this arena are notable alternatives, with the Sonos Beam Gen 2 and Bose Smart Soundbar 600 standing out as direct rivals, given their comparable specifications and more budget-friendly pricing.
