South Korean company Samsung has released a new smartphone in the UK with a discount, the Galaxy A17 5G. This device offers either 128 or 256 GB of storage, features the eight-core Exynos 1330 SoC with 4 or 8 GB of RAM, and runs Android 15 with OneUI 7 and the KNOX 3.11 security suite. Android will receive regular security patches for at least six years (until August 31, 2031) and up to six major OS upgrades.
The built-in Super AMOLED touchscreen, therefore, has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels (FHD+) with a maximum refresh rate of 90 Hz and measures 6.7 inches diagonally. Additionally, the Samsung AI camera features a 50MP wide-angle lens with autofocus and optical image stabilization, alongside a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 13MP front sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. Moreover, video recording is said to be possible in Full HD at up to 30 frames per second (fps), or alternatively, in slow motion at HD resolution and 120 frames per second (fps).
5G-compatible phones also include Bluetooth 5.3, microSD, Nano-SIM, USB-C, and Wi-Fi 5 (dual-band). The manufacturer advertises a 5000 mAh battery that cannot be replaced and claims it provides up to 18 hours of video playback per charge. They estimate the battery will last for at least 1200 charging cycles.
Samsung Galaxy A17 5G Price and Availability
The IP54-rated Samsung Galaxy A17 5G weighs 192g and comes in blue, gray, and black. Moreover, it is available now at £179 (128GB/4GB) for the unlocked model, with a $20 discount on Amazon.co.uk. Meanwhile, US customers can purchase the unlocked Latin America model with 256GB storage and 8GB RAM from Amazon.com for $259.99. Additionally, this model is compatible with T-Mobile, Mint, Tello, and global networks.
