Pentax HD 50mm and SMC 50mm F1.4 Classic lenses announced

Ricoh, the company that owns the Pentax brand, has announced two new fast lenses (F/1.4) for Pentax K-mount SLR cameras (full frame): the HD Pentax-FA 50mm F1.4 and the SMC Pentax-FA 50mm F1.4 Classic.

The HD Pentax-FA 50mm F1.4 is a modern lens that features a special design, including a green ring at the front of the lens, as well as a special HD lens coating. This coating helps to improve contrast and sharpness across the frame, and it also helps to minimize flare.

The SMC Pentax-FA 50mm F1.4 Classic is a more traditional lens that continues the tradition of classic Pentax film lenses. This lens creates a distinctive iridescent flare at a wide aperture, which emulates the style and aesthetic of classic film and cine lenses.

Both lenses have a classic focal length of 50mm, apertures from f/1.4 to f/22, and a minimum focusing distance of 45cm. They also both have 8 rounded aperture blades and a special coating on the front elements to protect against water and dirt. The optical design of both lenses includes 7 elements in 6 groups, and both lenses are equipped with aperture rings, giving the user full control over exposure.
