OnePlus Watch 2 promises long battery life with Wear OS 4 and Dual-Engine

Last month, OnePlus launched the OnePlus Watch 2, a new waterproof smartwatch, alongside the OnePlus 12 and OnePlus 12R, now available for purchase on Amazon. The OnePlus SmartWatch 2 operates on Wear OS 4. Its large battery and dual-engine design deliver up to 100 hours of smart mode life for sustained, reliable performance.

For its new Watch 2, OnePlus relies on Google’s wearable operating system Wear OS in the current fourth version. Traditionally, Wear OS smartwatches offer manageable battery life, which OnePlus defies. The manufacturer packs a whopping 500 mAh battery capacity into the housing and, with its dual-engine architecture, claims to provide up to 100 hours of battery life in smart mode with full functionality.

With heavy use, up to 48 hours (i.e. two days) should be possible, and in energy-saving mode even up to 12 days. However, only a test can show how well this works in practice. The 7.5 W charger fully recharges the OnePlus 2 Watch in just 60 minutes.

The Watch 2 integrates the high-performance Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 platform for Wear OS 4 and incorporates a BES 2700 efficiency chipset with RTOS to ensure extended battery life. While the economical chip runs continuously and does many of the usual things, it wakes up the Snapdragon W5 for demanding tasks like opening Wear OS apps. There are also 2 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM available.

The OnePlus smartwatch 2 is available from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk for a recommended retail price of $299.99 and £303.21, respectively. It comes in two colors Black Steel and Radiant Steel.

OnePlus Watch 2 features a 1.43″ AMOLED display with a 466×466 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and 1,000 nits brightness. It is protected by 2.5D sapphire glass. According to the manufacturer, the stainless steel housing is also particularly robust, meets the military standards MIL-STD-810H, and is optimally protected against water and dust thanks to IP68.

It comes equipped with dual-frequency GPS (L1 + L5), Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity. On the back, it features optical heart rate and pulse oximeter sensors for health tracking. It provides sleep and stress tracking, plus over 100 sports modes such as running, tennis, badminton, and skiing. These enhancements make the OnePlus 2 Watch a comprehensive health and fitness device.
