AMD apparently has refreshed its around two-year-old Ryzen 5 1600 in 12nm based on the Zen + architecture under $100. Therefore, the processor should be a very attractive offer in this price segment.
When AMD introduced its new Ryzen CPU over two years ago, the AMD Ryzen 5 1600 was one of the most popular CPUs on the market a short time later. This was also to be expected with its specifications. The processor offered 6 cores and 12 threads with a fairly low TDP of 65 watts for less than $200.
Now the company seems to be refreshing its first-generation CPU without much notice. New AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AM4 processor currently on the market shows that it is a 12nm Pinnacle Ridge processor in the test of CPU-Z tool, whereas the chip was originally manufactured in 14nm.
The use of the Zen + architecture should ensure that the processor can keep a higher boost clock and that the energy efficiency is better. Furthermore, the latencies in Zen + when accessing the L1, L2, and L3 cache are significantly lower. This should have a positive effect on the performance of the chip, especially in games.
The new model can be distinguished from the original version by the serial number. For the Zen + variant, this is “YD1600BBA F BOX” and the older one is “YD1600BBA E BOX”, it has been priced at $120.
Price and Availability
The new AMD Ryzen 5 1600 price starts at just under $100 and is already available to buy on Amazon.com. So the CPU should be very interesting for many users who want to put together a cheap computer with which you can also play.
